Belfast sees record growth in business tourism from events. Visit Belfast has recently announce that £13 million has been generated in economic impact for the city of Belfast. Since the start of the year there have been 37 major events which have led to in the region of 42,500 hotel beds being purchased and this has had a significant positive affect for the city as a whole.
The hotel sector in the city has performed particularly well this year with the average occupancy rate up 5% on last year to 80.4%. From January until the end of June Visit Belfast have managed to secure 24 national and international conferences.
Analysts have predicted that this growth is set to continue as the city continues its economic growth and becomes a more well known event destination.
