Entertainment Robots Launched on Costa Cruises
Costa Cruises have signed a new deal with French robot manufacturer of the “Pepper” robot Aldebaran.
This is a first for the burgeoning cruise industry who are currently experimenting with new events based incentives and investments in activities and cost cutting measure.
The deal is said to be worth more than $1 million with the robots to be rolled out in Q2 2016.
The Pepper robot is said to be able to read guest emotion and will be used to help provide onboard entertainment. It is just over 1m at 120cm in height with a 3D camera and a 10 inch touch screen to interact with users.
CEO of Costa Cruises Michael Thamm said that, “With an emotional robot on board our cruise ships we are once again continuing our tradition of innovation…For us, this is an important step towards a digital future for our brands. I am confident that our guests will love Pepper.”
