Event App Provider DoubleDutch lay off 25% of Global Workforce

Mobile event and conference app company DoubleDutch have announced that they will be laying off 55 of their employees globally in a push to restructure.

San Francisco based DoubleDutch was founded in 2011 and has seen investment of over $78 million to fund their mobile event tools. The app allows event organisers to create a dedicated event app and share information and data between the participants and the organiser.

Just over 1 year ago Pankai Prasad from the management team at the software company claimed that, “We are growing well north of 100 percent year over year, and see no signs of things slowing down,”

The redundancies represent 25% of the companies global workforce. A statement from the company said that it was a, “decision to break hard for profitability and move up-market as we build out our enterprise platform.”

In our opinion the mobile event app market has been steadily growing over the last couple of years. The app sector within the market has become increasingly saturated with cheaper offerings coming to the market and undermining the business case for a premium high end app. We will keep you posted as this story develops.
