Sadiq Khan, recently elected Labour Mayor of London has launched the #LondonisOpen Campaign to show that the city is still open for business, events and travel despite the vote to leave the EU.
Throughout the summer #LondonisOpen will be promoted at major events and gatherings across the summer. Director of Business Torusim and Major Events at London Partners (the organisation hried to promote London), Tracy Halliwell, said: “This campaign shows businesses and event organisers that despite the vote to leave the EU, London is still open to everyone and remains one of the best cities for conferences and events. With the current drop in the value of the pound, there has never been a better time to take advantage of London’s unbeatable value, with its wide variety of venues, accommodation and activities suitable for everyone.”
The scope of the campaign is to show off the capital as a ‘creative, international, entrepreneurial and full of opportunities’ and that discrimination will not be tolerated. Backers include: Prime Minister Theresa May, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson Merlin Entertainment, Hilton and Richard Branson among others.
Sadiq Khan commented, “We don’t simply tolerate each other’s differences, we celebrate them. Many people from all over the globe live and work here, contributing to every aspect of life in our city. We now need to make sure that people across London, and the globe, hear that #LondonIsOpen. I urge everyone to get involved with this simple but powerful campaign to send a positive message to the world.”
