Dream Cruises

New Cruise Liner Dream Cruises to Cater for Event Groups. Dream Cruises has been launched by GENTING Hong Kong as a new product line aimed at the rapidly growing luxury MICE, entertainment and leisure sectors. The inaugural ship, Genting Dream is currently being outfitted in Germany by shipbuilders Meyer Werft and is due to arrive in Asia on November 4. The initial offering will include a two night cruise from Singapore, followed by a six night trip to Hong Kong

Dream Cruise’s Senior Vice President Michael Goh was recently quotes as saying that they are looking to target a varied mix of 40% MICE travellers and 60% leisure travellers from Indian, Japan, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. He went further to state that, He added: “MICE groups in China are usually large groups of 500 people or more. Groups from South-east Asia are usually smaller, between 50 and 300 pax.”

The news that Dream Cruises is set to aim for a substantial percentage of their occupancy to be from the MICE industry should come as no surprise to those inside the cruise industry. The rapidly growing cruise industry is currently actively targeting the event sector with cut price rates on offer across the majority of the liners. We do expect this market to hot up further in the future as more liners are now choosing to station boats solely within China for the sole purpose of arranging China only trips.
