Management staff from five trade promotion agencies across South and Southeast Asia were treated to two days of complimentary dining, touring, and entertainment in Seoul from May 28th to 29th, as part of an exclusive FAM Tour organized by Coex.
In addition to visits to some of the capital’s most well-known attractions, the trade promotion agencies were given the opportunity to learn more about Coex’s in-house organized trade shows, and the many incentives available to overseas participants. The tour welcomed staff from well-known TPOs in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, and the Philippines, who stayed at the Coex Intercontinental Hotel.
Of the 200 exhibitions held at the Coex Center each year, 25 are organized in-house by Coex’s dedicated exhibition teams. National Pavilion packages, as well as personalized business-match meetings, heighten business potential for international participants at Coex-run tradeshows. Other benefits for exhibitors from overseas include discounted airfare, free accommodation, and interpreter assistance.
Coex signed MOUs with two organizations present on the tour pledging to help expand and diversify trade between Korea and Southeast Asia through increased participation at Coex tradeshows.
Director of the Coex International Marketing Team, Mr Steven Kim, said “FAM Tours are a fantastic way for us to build real networks with our trade associates abroad. This is definitely something we intend to expand and continue with each year.”
The Seoul Convention Bureau, a branch of the Government-run Seoul Tourism Organization who contributed to the hosting of the FAM Tour, briefed the TPO staff in attendance on the many current developments of the MICE industry in Seoul.
