Dubai to Construct Mega Capacity Conference Centre. Dubai has for years wanted to lead the way in terms of grand projects, from colossus shopping malls, man made islands or the world’s tallest building. Now Dubai is looking to take on a new challenge in the event industry. They have recently announced they are to build a 10,000 capacity conference centre worth $210 million USD ($1.8 billions dhirams).
The 55,000 square metre site for the project will sit in Al Jaddaf and face Festival City. The Dubai Conference Centre will include two hotels and a 36 floor office building, concourse to the convention centre including glass corridors and air conditioned walkways.
The Sheikh Rashid Hall will consist of 3 floors with a capacity of 10,000 once completed. The project is part of the build up to the World Expo in 2020 which is to be hosted in the city.
Director General, Hussain Nasser Lootah stated that it is a, “a magical location with a distinctive panoramic view of Dubai Creek, considered a perfect destination for business people and tourists”.
