Las Vegas Launch Virtual Reality Companion App. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) have recently launched a new app – the Virtual Realtiy and Company app which helps visitors explore Las Vegas remotely.
The new app has been showcased through the ground breaking technology, Oculus Rift. The Oculus Rift is a firtual reality headset display which allows users to ineract and immerse themselves in 3d experiences like never before.
The LVCVA launched the new app at the long running ITB trade show in Berlin, Germany. The thinking behind the app is to encourage users to explore and understand the sights, sounds and experiences of what Las Vegas can offer. The app has 12 incredible Las Vegas experiences that can either be viewed simply on a smart phone, with a cardboard cut out headset or with the more advanced and impressive Oculus Rift headset. Cathy Tull the LVCVA Senior Vice President of Marketing stated that, “Users are able to explore what Las Vegas has to offer in a virtual setting and gain the excitement needed to book their own Las Vegas adventure,”
The growth of the Oculus Rift really highlights the opportunities to push event technology, travel destinations further. Visitors no longer have to carry out sight visits, check out destinations or read brochures. They can in theory immerse themselves in said destination to get an up close and personal view. Although this is developing technologies we do expect to see siginificat growth in this sector of the event technology market.
